Products I regret buying

I haven't written one of these posts for ages, but have tried a few dud products lately so thought it was time I told you all about them.

Stila Jewel eyeshadow - I may as well just put a whole pile of glitter on my eyelid. Whilst it has a beautiful colour in the pan, when I apply it there is no colour just a whole lot of glitter.

Savy by DB liquid eye liner - This is absolutely crap. When I apply it, it evaporates so I end up with a really uneven line. No matter how thickly I apply it or how many times I reapply it won't give me a decent line. I'm so glad I only paid $4, but it wasn't even worth that!

Korres Sunflower Oil Shimmering Eyeshadow - I'm so disappointed with this one. It's a beautiful eyeshadow but it's so, so flaky. Every time I use it so much of it flakes away. I've hit pan on it already, purely because it flakes so much.

Lush Shower Jelly - This just isn't useable. It's literally like firm jelly, so slippery, it doesn't dissolve even when used with a shower puff and it was just a waste of time. I threw it out.

A2LB closing down - I'm so upset. Now I won't be able to buy most of my favourite balms. Luckily I stocked up before they closed.

What I bought from Beauty Bay

In celebration of getting a redundancy, hubby encouraged me to buy me some new make-up. As I don't need much encouraging, I quickly jumped on Beauty Bay and placed an order.

I'd heard that Beauty Bay shipping was really slow, so I wasn't expecting to get my package in a hurry, however I was pleasantly surprised.

I placed my order on the 8th of August. I deliberately only ordered products that were in stock, however when I checked on my order the next day it hadn't been shipped as they were waiting for stock of some items. On the 12th of August my order status showed "ready for disptach" and then later that day I got email notification saying my order had been shipped. It arrived in Perth on the 22nd of August, so overall I'm happy with how quickly it arrived.

Now for the unveiling:

Here's what I ordered:
Orofluido Hair Oil
Orofluido Shine Spray
Tangle Teezer

Too Faced Naked Eye Palette
Lord and Berry Sand Smudgeproof Eyeliner
Stila Smoke Smudge Crayon
Per-fekt Paramount Lip Perfection Gel
Too Faced Naked Dolly La Creme Lip Cream
bareMinerals Savvy Pretty Amazing Lip Colour

Reviews will be coming up, however if there's anything you're particularly interested in please let me know.

Samples I've been trialling

I've been using a few samples lately and thought I'd do mini reviews of them. I don't want to do full reviews as I haven't been using the products long enough.

Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser: I really liked this, it was hydrating enough that I didn't need moisturiser underneath and it made my skin look radiant. I'm planning on buying this.

Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation: This was nice but quite sheer. I find it very similar to the Bourjois Ten Hour Sleep Effect foundation.

Ojon Restoraitve Hair Treatment: I used this once, it smells amazing and made my hair feel lovely. I didn't love it enough to buy a full sized one though.

Elixia Tinted Multi-V Moisturiser: This was lovely, I'd buy a full sized one if the price was right. It's light so doesn't give a lot of colour but it feels really nice on my skin. I still have to wear a moisturiser underneath it.

Elixia Nourishing Antioxidant Serum: This is really nice. It's moisturising enough that I can wear it without moisturiser over the top and it feels lovely on my skin.

Jurlique Daily Exfoliating Cream: I don't understand how this is supposed to work. Jurlique says that you for a smooth paste with it and then apply the paste to your face with a press and release motion. I did that and ended up with clumps of product all over my face. It didn't exfoliate or do anything. Maybe I wasn't using it properly?

Stila Lip Glaze

I'm amazed to say that I've never tried a Stila Lip Glaze before. When I realised this I quickly headed down to Mecca to rectify the problem. I got Passionfruit which on me is a pretty, sheer pink. I don't normally like brush applicator glosses but Stila's Lip Glaze is the exception as the brush is quite firm and makes applying the gloss very easy.

I'm really happy with my Lip Glaze. Passionfruit is a beautiful colour that smells and tastes great (which is very important to me, I hate glosses that smell and taste bad). It provides a sheer wash of shiny colour that looks great alone or layered over lipstick or lip liner. The texture is lovely, it's not sticky or tacky and feels quite moisturising.

Stila says: Want lips that get all the attention they deserve? Turn on the shine and you'll be turning heads with stila's most popular lip gloss. Choose from an array of delectable shades that add a splash of color and fabulously matching flavors and scents in one easy click of the famous pen. Cosmetics experts agree-this top seller is an essential addition to any beauty bag.

Would I buy this again? Yes, it's a lovely gloss and I like the pen style container.

All of the pictures shown in this post are from the Mecca website.

My recent purchases

I've been doing a little bit of shopping lately so thought I'd share my purchases with you. Amazing as it sounds, I don't go shopping that often, which is why I don't have lots of posts about things I've purchased.

The photo above clockwise from top left is: Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow in Ash, Bobbi Brown Bisque Corrector, MAC Et Tu Bouquet Eyeshadow and MAC Satin Taupe Eyeshadow.

Below is: Stila Foundation Wardrobe Light

I'm so excited to test everything out. I've already used the Bobbi Brown Bisque Corrector and it's amazing. It's one of the nicest products I've ever used. Once I've had a chance to test everything out I'll do reviews of them.

Stila Smudge Pot

I've been trying to write this review for weeks now (about 5 to be precise) and I really don't know what to say, so I'll just make it plain and simple.

This is a great eye liner. Compared the the other gel eye liners I've tried (MAC and Bobbi Brown), it has a firmer texture, which in my opinion makes it easier to work with. Once this is on it stays put without creasing or disappearing during the day.

Due to the great texture it also makes a great waterproof eye shadow. I apply it as a wash of colour over my eye for a great base. I have grey which is perfect to use under shadows to intensify the colour.

I read somewhere that storing gel eye liners upside down stops them drying out. I'm not sure if this is true, but I've been storing all my gel products this way for years and none of them have dried out, so maybe it works.

Here's what Stila says: The verdict is in, and smudge pots take the prize for sexy eyes!
This unique gel eyeliner and shadow is an innovative alternative to traditional powder and liquid formulas. This clever little gel has an inky intensity that leaves powder shadows in the dust. A favorite for the sultry, smoky eye.
Apply with a liner brush for razor-sharp precision or smudge it with your fingers for more complete coverage. Remember to always close the airtight lid to keep the gel soft and pliable.

Would I buy it again? Yes, I really like these eye liners.
